NLRHA launches first in series of minority contractor and laborer informational sessions March 29 at SW Bowker

The North Little Rock Housing Authority in partnership with developer BGC Advantage will host a minority contractor and laborer job  fair and information session from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, at S.W.  Bowker Community Room, 2503 Division Street. Interested individuals and contractors are encouraged to attend.

 

Through two HUD programs, rental assistance demonstration (RAD) and Section 18, over the next five years the NLRHA will undergo over $100 million in new construction, substantial renovations and re-branding of its eight residential properties. Such an economic investment will address the more than $90 million in deferred maintenance and upgrade costs.  Upon completion, the sites will include new systems, modern and aesthetically-pleasing amenities, energy-efficient features, better accessibility for residents with disabilities, clubhouses (select sites) and more. 

 

The RAD sites are comprised of North Shore Apartments (Silver City), Homes at Pine Crossing (Eastgate Terrace), Hillside Pointe (Windemere Hills) and Cedar View (S.W. Bowker).  Section 18 sites include Hickory View (Heritage House), Maple Place Apartments (Willow House) and Oak View (Campus Towers). 

 

New and returning tenants will use project-based vouchers (PBV) as their rental subsidy rather than traditional the public housing payment. There will be little to no change in their rents. In addition, they will have better access to asset-building and upward mobility resources.
